Kolkata experiences a subtropical climate with hot summers and cold

degrees centigrade. Monsoons extend from June till August, with the average
rainfall of 158 cm. Winters can record a minimum temperature of 9 degrees
centigrade. The ideal time for travellers to make a trip here is between
October and March.

» Victoria Memorial
Erected to commemorate Queen Victoria, the grand edifice showcases a

» Howrah Bridge
You must have seen a glimpse of it in numerous Hindi films. The
cantilevered bridge has the eminence of being the third largest in the
world. The bridge extends over the Hooghly river and links Howrah with

» Birla Planetarium
At first sight, it may seem to you a Buddhist stupa. But, don't be

Getting There
The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport of Kolkata is 17 km

Delhi, Mumbai, Patna, Chennai, Varanasi and Lucknow among others. Howrah and
Sealdah are the major railheads in the city. Regular mail and express trains
from these stations connect the city with all the key destinations of the
country. The Esplanade Terminus has regular buses reaching different parts
of the city.
